Berri-UQAM station: the visitor's guide
The busiest station in Montréal's métro and the only one where three lines meet. Here's how it works, what's connected to it, and what's within walking distance.

- Green: Angrignon / Honoré-Beaugrand. Orange: Côte-Vertu / Montmorency. Yellow: Longueuil–Université-de-Sherbrooke.
- Hours
- From about 5:30 a.m. to about 1 a.m. (1:30 a.m. on Saturday nights). Check the STM for tonight's last train.
- Elevators
- Step-free access to the Orange and Green lines: 1470 Rue Saint-Denis, the Grande Bibliothèque (475 De Maisonneuve E.) and UQAM (1400 Rue Berri). Yellow line elevators are under construction.
- Busiest station
- Number 1 of 68 stations, with about 9.3 million entries in 2024.
- Opened
- October 14, 1966, as Berri-de Montigny. Renamed Berri-UQAM in 1988 after the Université du Québec à Montréal.
- Depth
- The Yellow line platforms are 27.4 m down, making it the network's second-deepest station. Allow a few extra minutes to transfer.

24/7 to and from Montréal-Trudeau (YUL). Downtown terminus: René-Lévesque Blvd. at Berri St. The $11.25 fare is also a 24-hour transit pass.

Grande Bibliothèque
Québec's national library, connected underground. Free Wi-Fi and washrooms.
UQAM
The university's Judith-Jasmin building connects directly to the station.

14 regular and express routes plus 6 night routes stop around the station.
Look up: Stained-glass murals by Pierre Gaboriau and Pierre Osterrath, paintings by Robert LaPalme, and the Wall of Peace on the Yellow line concourse, with the word "peace" in many languages.

Is the area safe?
The station and Place Émilie-Gamelin above it are busy day and night, and the area can feel rough late at night, with visible homelessness. Use normal big-city care; the Saint-Denis and Grande Bibliothèque sides are calmer.
